Kollel ‘Chibas Yerushalayim’ ‘Kollel Chibas Yerushalayim – Kuppat Rabbi Meir Baal HaNess’, was founded in the year 1830 and served as a catalyst for myriad other such organisations since then. A wellspring of salvation for over 180 years, the Fund is sustained by its endless flow of Chessed (charitable causes) that does not cease, night or day. The Fund bears the responsibility of a 6,000,000 dollar annual budget (!) which is funnelled directly towards its varied and comprehensive charity projects.
Its crowning glory is the ‘Chaluka’ (distribution) - monetary grants bestowed upon 5,500 needy families, every three months. Aside from this the Kollel boasts a phenomenal array of other projects, such as the ‘Ezer Nisu’in Fund’ – assisting needy brides; ‘Ezer l’yoldos’ – assistance for new mothers; ‘Ezra l’cholim’ – support for the sick and their families; grants for the Yomim Tovim ; and other enterprises which include a network of subsidized dental services to Kollel families and families with many mouths to feed. A large-scale project provides clothing at subsidized prices, and there are study programs for young men to prepare for positions of Dayanus and Rabbanus.Over the 180 years of its existence, the Fund has been presided by the leaders of our generation, and so it continues until today. ‘Kollel Chibas Yerushalayim’ – the Charity Fund of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes – the source of all Segulos (remedies) and salvations.
